Phu Tho is the origin and homeland of the Viet people, where Hung Kings have built Van Lang Country thousands of years ago with Phong Chau as the capital. Phu Tho has had a long-term culture found in archaeological ruins of Son Vi, Dong Dau, Lang CA, Nghia Linh showing that Phong Chau as a cultural center of the Viet people with the annual festival on the 10th of the third lunar month at the Hung Kings Temple. Beside Phu Tho also has some ethnic minorities of different races with diversified cultures and folk dances, especially from Muong Race. There is 353.295 ha of nature land with the population of 1,5 million in different towns and districts.

Viet Tri is the political, economicand cultual center established in 1962 directly belong to Phu Tho.
